Jun-Hyun Kim

2017 CELA Excellence in Teaching – Junior Level

Jun-Hyun Kim is Associate Professor and Program Leader in the Landscape Architecture Program at Michigan State University. His teaching philosophy stands on two core aspects: High-impact based on learning by doing, and high-touch based on high-tech.

His nominator wrote: “He has consistently excelled in providing enriched and high-impact learning opportunities to his students. He has never stopped exploring ways to help his students learn better and to be better prepared to become successful landscape architects.

A Student had this to say: “Frankly we’ve often wondered amongst ourselves when Dr. Kim finds the time to sleep. He has always been impressively responsive to questions and concerns, no matter the hour of night (or morning). One particularly stressful late night before a big deadline, he even stopped by our studio to hand out orange juice and muffins to make sure that we were taking care of ourselves.”
