CELA (Council of Educators in Landscape Architecture)

Bruce Sharky

2017 CELA Outstanding Communication Award

Bruce Sharky is a Professor in the Robert Reich School of Landscape Architecture at Louisiana State University. He has led summer and semester-abroad programs to Mexico, the Netherlands, Portugal, and China. He was twice a Fulbright scholar in Mexico and Portugal. More recently he has lectured and led short courses at three Chinese universities.

Describing Sharky’s book Thinking About Landscape Architecture his nominator wrote: “This book fills a gap in the communication of our profession to the general public, for the benefit of the public, Landscape Architecture educational programs and the profession.”

One support letter stated:I believe Professor Sharky has created a body of work with Thinking About Landscape Architecture that should become a required text for all beginning studios and furthermore, should be located within every guidance councilor’s office in every high school to inform prospective students about the profession. This book will be one that readers will refer back to time after time for refreshment and inspiration.”
