Volunteer Opportunities

LA CES Committee Representatives:

Are you a licensed, professional landscape architect looking for a leadership role to help bridge the gap between the academic world and private practice? The CELA needs experienced and enthusiastic professionals like you to represent us on the LA CES committees.

You will work alongside representatives from CLARB, ASLA, CSLA, and LAF to ensure that the continuing education courses offered to landscape architects are of high quality and contribute to the advancement of the profession.

Please consider applying for one of the following volunteer roles:

LA CES Representative – Application Review Committee (1 committee member needed)

As a member of the Application Review Committee, you will ensure that LA CES providers and courses are of high quality and serve professionals like you.  You will gain knowledge of the LA CES program as you review provider applications to determine if they are qualified under LA CES criteria. You will play a key role as a gatekeeper to ensure that only qualified providers are accepted.

Time commitment:

  • Three-year term
  • 25 to 40 hours per year (spread over 35 to 40 weeks of the year)
  • 1 to 2 committee meetings (1-hour duration)


LA CES Representative – Monitoring Committee (3 committee members needed)

As a member of the Monitoring Committee, you will review LA CES providers to verify that they are complying with the program’s guidelines and procedures. You will gain insight into what distinguishes a quality provider. You will have the opportunity to survey providers, attendees, and review provider materials. You will play a key role in maintaining the quality of the LA CES program.

Time commitment:

  • Three-year term
  • 6 to 8 hours of review (active during June to October)
  • 2 committee meetings (1-hr duration)
