Council of Educators in Landscape Architecture to Inaugurate a Student Award for Research or Creative Scholarship

The Council of Educators in Landscape Architecture is pleased to announce the inauguration of a new CELA Student Award for Research or Creative Scholarship. The CELA Student Award represents the highest level of recognition the organization can bestow on a Landscape Architecture student’s performance in the categories of academic research or creative scholarship.

A jury using a blind, peer review process will evaluate all submissions, reflecting the highest standards of review in academic practice. The winner will receive a full registration to CELA’s Annual Conference and will have the opportunity to make valuable connections within the academic community. In the case of a team win, one full conference registration will be given to one member on behalf of the team. The winners will be recognized and presented with the Award during the award ceremony at the Annual Conference Business Luncheon.

Nominations for the awards (one award will be given for research and one for creative scholarship) may be submitted by an undergraduate student in landscape architecture at the junior level or above, or a graduate student currently enrolled in Landscape Architecture, or in both cases having graduated within one academic year prior to submission. Faculty may also submit nominations. In all cases, it is expected that the selected student(s) will attend the CELA Conference associated with the year of selection.

Specific criteria for submissions will be included in CELA’s Call for Awards and Recognitions for the 2018 CELA Conference at Virginia Tech. For information about this new award, please contact Hala Nassar, Second Vice President and Chair of the Standing Committee on Awards and Recognitions.
